2025 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival

Since the 1960s, the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is one of the largest and oldest educational jazz festivals in the world. With over 400 student performances, a dozen world-class jazz artists and nearly 100 workshops, clinics and special exhibits, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival honors the music, dance and history of jazz music and one of its most honored artists, Lionel Hampton. The Lionel Hampton School of Music proudly presents its 2025 production of Mozart's timeless opera, Le nozze di Figaro – "The Marriage of Figaro". Set against the backdrop of the Count's mansion, Figaro and Susanna, two servants, are on the brink of their wedding when they uncover the Count's sinister plan to exercise his feudal right and claim Susanna for himself on their wedding night. In a clever plot to thwart the Count's intentions, they ally with the Countess and a colorful ensemble of characters, navigating a maze of deception and intrigue. This production is brought to life with the LHSOM orchestra, in collaboration with the Theatre Arts Department, promising a performance filled with humor, heart, and exquisite music.
